Position Summary
​
We are seeking an exceptional candidate for our Corporate Controller position to build, lead and manage the accounting operations and financial reporting of the Company. Our headquarters are in Cambridge, MA and our R&D is operated through a wholly owned subsidiary which is located in Singapore. This is a newly created position reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and is an opportunity to contribute significantly to a growing, privately held life sciences company. The successful candidate will have a willingness and ability to manage and execute the entire range of tasks required to support the Company’s accounting function. This position is responsible for all aspects of the internal financial reporting function and managing daily accounting operations, period closings, audits, internal controls as well as corporate policies / procedures and compliance functions. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in successfully improving and scaling business systems and processes in a fast-paced, dynamic life sciences environment.

Responsibilities

Lead the accounting operations of the US and Singapore entities including maintaining an adequate system of accounting records / policies and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results

Provide day-to-day management of the accounting operations including accounts payables and payroll, ensuring proper and timely accounting of transactions to facilitate comprehensive, transparent and accurate views of the financial stage of the business

Monitor and review for accuracy the general ledgers, balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements for preparation of internal and external GAAP conformed financial statements

Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements

Assist with maintenance of the Company’s capitalization table

Partner with company leadership to develop, monitor / track and analyze budget and forecasting

Oversee the independent valuation and year-end independent financial statement audit

Manage the Company’s tax reporting and state filing requirements

Research and advise the Company on the adoption of critical financial systems and lead implementation of systems and processes

Manage and develop the accounting team members and hire new members as needed in the US and Singapore.

Take lead on preparing and readying the organization for SEC standards and implementation of internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley, as required
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree preferred
-
CPA is strongly preferred
-
10+ years of prior experience in corporate and / or general accounting utilizing US GAAP including recent company experience as the controller or assistant controller

Big 4 public accounting and SEC reporting experience preferred

Prior employment in the life sciences / biotechnology industries preferred
-
Privately held, VC-backed company experience in a commercial product-based enterprise is strongly preferred

Three or more years of supervisory experience desired

Experience implementing and maintaining ERP systems and developing reporting and analytics capabilities

High personal integrity and strong work ethic with the ability to work well in a collaborative environment. Ability to operate independently in fast-paced and evolving environment is required
